from DTV - Democrats in Action It's been one year since Greg Enholm, DTV
Executive Producer, proposed the idea for DTV to County Chair Chris
McGinnis. It took from March 2003 to September 2003 before the
first DTV program, First Democratic Presidential Debate, was shown
on cable access channels for most of Contra Costa County. All 20
half-hour programs produced since then are listed on back. DTV's goal has remained giving Democrats,
both elected officials and rank-and-file, access to television
with minimal editing and multiple showings. DTV has the potential
to be a powerful way for Democrats to get their messages across
to other Democrats and the general cable viewing audience. DTV is now shown EVERY week on three cable
systems (Comcast-Near East County, Comcast-Far East County, Astound-Concord/Walnut
Creek). Recently, Comcast-Far East County moved the program from
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Thursday, creating a major increase in the
potential audience in this commuter area. Comcast-Central County
deliberately restricts program time on its access channel so all
programs INCLUDING DTV only have TWO SHOWINGS PER MONTH. Action
by city councils could correct this situation. DTV has not been
shown on the West County cable systems. DTV's current programming
schedule is below.
